Astoria Hotel Budapest Reviews
Hotel details

Great location to metro for train station!. Easy walk to any sites. If 5 star means Ritz Carlton or Fairmont, this hotel is a solid 3 star. If living up to expectations for a budget trip, this hotel is a solid 5 star. One of the oldest hotels in Budapest, but it must have recently refurbished their guest rooms!. Room was comfortable, clean, roomy. We were there in the winter and the room was nice and warm coming in from the cold. The staff was "elegant" and they, along with the the lobby reminded us of an authentic art deco hotel. Kept thinking we were going to see Myrna Loy, and William Powell walk in! Staff very helpful. They will arrange for a cab if you need one to get to airport. The metro right outside the door of the hotel goes directly to the train station. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Pretend you are back in the glamorous age of the 30's, early 40's and you would want to wait in the lobby to see the "beautiful"people. Polite formal reception, helpful bell men, lovely breakfast room, if not delicious, it cetainly was varied and beautifully presented with white tablecloths, silver, immediate "busing" etc. Room generous size and all VERY clean. Fantastic location and underground RIGHT outside of hotel on the corner. Front desk can arrange for cab and cab vouchers if needed. (we suggest you take a cab to airport, but if taking a train, underground goes DIRECTLY to train station, and couldn't be easier or a cheaper way. Easy walk to sights, etc.from hotel. Front desk (Reception) can be very helpful with directions. Because of a train strike we did not stay there as long as originally booked, but would stay there again. We visited right before Christmas and all of Budapest was just so beautiful with lights, decorations and everyone in wonderful holiday moods.

The Astoria is listed as a "grand hotel" and it certainly is. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was varied and delicious.
