London and Rome Reviews

Overall, go-today did an excellent job providing us with nice hotels that were located very well (safe neighborhoods, near subways). The flights went smoothly and we appreciated being kept up to date with scheduling changes. The personel were pleasant and readily available by phone and very responsive. The only complaint is that we spent too much money on transfers to/from hotel in Rome based on the advice from go-today.com (we could have spent much less if we had picked up transportation at the airport rather than pre-booking). Also, I would have appreciated better seats on the planes (since we booked almost a year in advance), and they did not give us our frequent flyer miles, although they said they did.

Hello, Overall the vacation was very good. The hotel in Rome, Hotel Orlanda was good and the people at the front desk were very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. However, the hotel in London, the Holiday Villa was very bad; and here are the problems we encountered there: Elevator problems, especially the door not opening at the selected floor Hotel people at the front desk were very unfriendly and unknowleageable Boring and inadeqate breakfast Hotel bar served guests alcoholic beverages past midnights and the guests (mosly Russians) made loud noises until 2:30 am. We called the front desk twice for them to call the police, but they never did. I wanted to call the police from my room but they refured to connect me with an outside line. I talked to the hotel manager, Mr. Brown, the next day and he promised to give us a room in the back of the hotel for the remainder of our stay. He told us to pack our bags and leave them in our room and they would be place the the new room. When we came back that evening, we were told that we would have to keep the same room. We had to then unpack. This was a big wast of time to pack and unpack and proves the Mr. Brown is not customer oriented cannot be trusted. Please remove this hotel from your list. Sincerely, William Disalvo

I elected to take this vacation as a short one week getaway. I took of from JFK to London via Milan on AliItalia. I arrived at the airport and learned that I was able to get to my hotel, the Ramada Marylebone using the underground. Upon arrival i was delighted at how well situated the hotel was and how close to it was to the underground (right across the hotel). After 3 nights, I was to fly into Rome. The aiport in rome is not close to the city and a cab will cost about 40 Euros. An alternative would be to take the train from the airport to Roma Termini and then a cab to the center. A cab should run about 15 Euros. A documentary on Italian TV showed how cab drivers fuss with the meters to increase rates so be aware of that. One hotel I would recommend is the one included in my package. The Hotel Diplomatic. It's between St. Peters and the Spanish Steps so it has a great location. If you plan to do shopping, many of the flagship stores are within walking distance. The hotel itself is also very beautiful . The room I was given had a balcony and marble bathroom. The room did have a safe and a minibar which were nice extras I didn't expect. The staff at the hotel were wonderful and I would recommend this package to anyone who wants to see two great cities.

My mom and I wen this past September. The weather was great, the hotels were clean and respectable. The only complaint is the travel to Gatwick airport from out hotel in London to go to Rome. We had to take a cab at 4 in the morning which cost us 70 pounds. It would have been nice if transportation to or from the airport was included in the package. We spent a lot of travel to and from airports during this trip. Otherwise the trip was enjoyable.
